"The Ticker Pulse backstory — built to solve information overload by using AI to track and quantify stock sentiment across audio and video mediums" - Alexander Grover
A Lifetime of Stock Picking
I’ve been picking stocks since 1985. Back then, my father and I would watch the Nightly Business Report on PBS and flip through the Wall Street Journal. The information was straightforward but limited. If you wanted to discover new stocks, you usually started with what you saw around you. If you used a Kodak camera, you might research Kodak. If you had a computer, maybe you looked into Texas Instruments.
But beyond the mainstream, it was difficult to know what was happening in biotech or semiconductors unless you had a friend or relative in the field who could give you professional insight. Newsletters existed, but they were expensive, and it was hard to separate the good ones from the noise.
The Shift: From Scarcity to Overload
Fifteen to twenty years later, blogging, YouTube, and podcasts transformed investing. Suddenly, individuals were deep-diving into companies and industries in ways that sometimes outshone Wall Street analysts. The problem wasn’t scarcity anymore—it was overload.
I found myself spending hours listening to YouTubers and bloggers who did incredible research, but as my family and career responsibilities grew, I couldn’t keep up with all of it. I still wanted access to those insights, but I needed a way to cut through the noise. Too often, by the time analyst upgrades hit the headlines, the real opportunity had already passed.
That frustration—and inspiration—is what led to the creation of Ticker Pulse.
The Inspiration Behind Ticker Pulse
Ticker Pulse was built to solve a simple problem: how can everyday investors tap into the vast world of independent voices—on YouTube, blogs, and podcasts—without drowning in information overload?
The timing was no accident. The AI revolution—from the rise of machine learning to breakthroughs like ChatGPT—showed us that we could bring this vision to life at a reasonable cost. What once required armies of researchers and analysts can now be achieved with smart automation.
I had already been following the AI wave for years. Since 2017, I’ve closely tracked Nvidia, the company powering much of the AI boom. Watching how AI reshaped industries inspired me to think about how it could reshape investing, too. With AI’s ability to process language and sentiment at scale, we could finally capture the collective wisdom of the digital investing community in a structured, actionable way.
The result is a platform that uses AI to scan and analyze stock discussions, organizing them into clear insights: which tickers are being talked about, how frequently, and with what sentiment. Instead of chasing information, investors can now focus on making smarter decisions.
About Me
My career has spanned both finance and technology. After serving as a U.S. Naval Officer, I worked at BlackRock in Wilmington, Delaware, where I supported the Aladdin risk analytics platform. Today, I work as a Senior Technical Project Manager for a Fortune 500 company, specializing in data engineering, analytics, and AI integration.
That mix of financial markets experience and technical expertise gave me the foundation to build Ticker Pulse: a platform designed by an investor, for investors.
